Bright Light Flared then Zipped off Horizontally

I live in NC between Durham and Burlington last November I was out on the deck late after work, you guessed it smoking a cig. I have an acre and the back of my house faces due North and have lots of trees. there’s a mile of woods with no homes behind my house. I was only out there for a couple minutes and was facing east when I saw a light out of the corner of my eye to my left when I realized that light wasn’t there a minute ago I turned in time to watch it move horizontally about 20 deg from about NNE in a straight line moving East then fade out quickly. it was about a third of the size of the Moon and I didn’t hear anything. It was not a meteor or shooting star and had no tail it was a pure white sphere, didn’t get bigger or smaller, was very bright and was only about 15 deg above the ground seemed to me to be about 1 to 3 miles away, but who knows depending on the size.
I’ve seen zillions of satellites, Iridium flashes and the Iss, it was gone in two seconds so it wasn’t one of those. that’s the last thing that I have seen that I could not Identify.
