A UFO Report from Corona, Queens

by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles Lear

As fond as we are of historical UFO reports, it’s always a pleasure to write about a recent report and especially when it’s one from our own backyard. In April 2024, we wrote about a sighting from a plane landing at LaGuardia Airport in Queens, and we more recently wrote about a sighting a co-worker had from a rooftop bar in Manhattan, which we felt warranted an onsite interview and investigation. These both had intriguing videos to back them up, and the witnesses were able to be named in both instances. Happily, we just came across a sighting in Corona, Queens, with the same attributes.

The story was reported in the New York Post, and made international news shortly thereafter. According to the Post article by Asia Grace headlined, “Eerie Trio of UFOs Spotted ‘Chasing Each Other’ Over New York City: Video” put up on the Post website on March 13, 2026, the witness, Charlie Correa of Corona, Queens, saw some lights at around 8:30 p.m. on March 8th while just outside his home. He took an 18-second video, and posted it on Reddit. A link is provided, and the article quotes from Correa’s post: “I came out of my house in Corona, Queens, and looked up to what I thought was a shooting star, but then two more joined it. They looked to be chasing each other around before I recorded this.”

The footage shows three small white lights at what looks to be a high altitude weaving around each other in a manner that appears to be playful to this writer. The behavior seems to rule out any sort of conventional aircraft such as planes or drones. Correa comments that he has a drone and that it emits either a green or red light or no light at all.

Commentors on Reddit described seeing the same sort of thing throughout the years in other parts of the United States. Explanations ranged from birds to planes from La Guardia. As for the latter explanation, Correa commented, “La Guardia Airport is probably one mile north from where I live, so it would be weird to not catch an FAA call or something.”

According to the Post article, the FAA declined to comment on the Corona sighting, but a spokesman gave this statement: “The FAA documents Unidentified Aerial Phenomena sightings whenever a pilot reports one to an air traffic control facility. If supporting information such as radar data corroborates the report, the FAA shares it with the UAP Task Force.”

In other New York area UFO news, documents obtained by The War Zone provide some details regarding 2024 drone flap. According to the article by Howard Altman headlined, “What Cops Saw Chasing Down New Jersey Drones,” updated on the site on March 12, 2026, a large number of documents were obtained by The War Zone using the Freedom of Information Act and the local Open Public Records Act. The documents provide a record of the alarm expressed by police departments and government officials as reports of “rogue drones” started coming in and also what was seen and where. A selection of the “most interesting” documents is presented.
