Summer of 1981 FLYING SAUCER North of Pittsburgh, Pa

I want to first start off by saying that I’ve only witnessed one event in my life that I could not explain. Since then I tend to pay more attention to the sky than probably the average person. It has been 40 years and since then I haven’t seen anything that I could not identify.
A perfect sunny summer day in early July north of Pittsburgh, Pa. around lunchtime. I was 11 years old and was playing whiffle ball with my older brother (18) and his girlfriend around the same age. Two neighbors my age were also playing with us. I just happened to look up and saw a saucer probably the size of a jet plane flying in close proximity to our property.
We obviously all saw it and we were pretty shocked. Another neighbor playing at his house also saw it. So 6 of us in all. It was flying slowly, moving forward but spinning clockwise at the same time. We observed several of what we would call ports and also I remember it was very shiny- the metal or whatever it was made out of.
Very close in appearance to Lazar’s sport craft but different in some ways. I remember feeling pretty scared at the time thinking they could easily see us. We watched for at least 3-4 minutes until we could no longer see it through the tall trees on our property. It was very close and there’s no mistaking what it was.
With that said I don’t know and probably will never know who or what was inside. I wish I would have had a camera. It was so close that I would have gotten a great picture. Over 40 years and while details have faded a bit I still remember very clearly how it rotated and moved forward. A pretty neat experience. Of course I haven’t shared my story much but when I have most laugh it off. I’m okay with how people react as I know it is hard to believe. With that said I know what we saw that summer and their reactions/opinions don’t bother me in the least.

A UFO and Humanoid in Vilvoorde, Belgium

by Charles Lear

In 1973, there was a worldwide wave of UFO associated humanoid encounters. Arguably, the most famous of these was the alleged abduction in Pascagoula, Mississippi, of Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker. They reported being forcibly taken aboard a craft by three, approximately five-foot-tall, robot-like, elephant-skinned creatures with crab claw-like hands, no eyes, a slit for a mouth and cone-shaped protrusions where the nose and ears would be on an earthly creature. While the creatures described by Hickson and Parker are unique in UFO literature, what is common to the 1973 humanoid wave is that most of the creatures described were unique. One report that stands out came from the city of Vilvoorde in Belgium. It was investigated by the Societé Belge d’Etude des Phénomènes Spatiaux, and an article describing the reported encounter written by Jean-Luc Vertongen appears in the SOBEPS journal, Inforespace No. 18, 1974. It was translated by Gordon Creighton and included in Flying Saucer Review, Vol. 20, No. 6.

Silver Cylindrical UFO

I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. My city resides across the river from Detroit, Michigan.

My first experience was a little over 10 years ago on a sunny September afternoon while I was outside on break from my place of work. I was sitting on a picnic table having a cigarette while I was on my first new cell phone, talking with my mom.

As I was talking with my mom, I noticed something coming from the North to south while looking at the west, from my point of view. It can from behind a tree, about approx. 1.5 miles from my position.

I was absolutely positive I was looking at a long cylindrical blimp. Why would I think it was anything else? I live across from Detroit and their sports teams sometimes have blimps flying around for advertising purposes, so I’m quite familiar with these flying balloons. They typically look like big footballs or long stretched out footballs. This object I saw was a very long silver cylindrical object that was shaped more like a silver test tube that was rounded at both ends.

As I was watching this “blimp”, I began to notice the object lacking things that a traditional blimp boasts as part of their usual characteristics. It was slowly cruising from my right to my left as I was continuing to converse with my mom. I noticed that it was lacking a tail for steering but didn’t think anything of it. Then I noticed it had no gondola for a pilot. Then an obvious characteristic most blimps show is advertising. This object had no such thing! I was really confused at this point. I still thought it was a blimp because I wasn’t expecting anything else. Why would I? Lol.

Then as my mom was talking to me, I noticed it came to a stop. It’s at this point, most blimps might use the wind to help push itself backwards into a turn. This cylinder just stopped dead, and stayed there for almost 10 minutes. I was almost 10 minutes over my break already. As I listened to my mom, watching this thing, something really odd happened. Something very bright and small, began zipping around the big object, like a fly. It was very fast. It was a bright white light with every colour of the rainbow flashing throughout the white as it was flying around the bigger object. It had a phosphorus glow to it. My hair stood up on ends while my mom asked me why I was so quiet. Lol. I was totally stymied as to what it was. I told my mom what I was seeing and she agreed that that was indeed very weird. I eventually went back to work while it remained stationary and forgot about it until a few years ago.

I was talking with someone when I said that I wished I could see a UFO one day because they’ve always fascinated me. I even did a presentation on the subject and the like in high-school when I was seventeen, before the modern internet. I am now 46. Anyway, the my brain lit up and remembered what I saw on that one sunny afternoon.

About 2 years after that realization, I saw a video I will post below that made my hair stand up on ends, again. There are two object around this particular cylindrical craft but the big object is pretty much exactly what I saw. The smaller object could have been around the size of the two smaller objects in this video but they’re different from the glowing ball of energy I saw ripping around the bigger object. Anyways, that’s my first experience. The two others regard orange orbs, close and at a great distance, but nonetheless very similar to each other and not as dramatic as my first sighting. I will tell you, that the orange orbs showed up as I was thinking about the cylindrical UFO. I even freaked my wife out when I told her I just witnessed the first orange orb right after we were discussing my first sighting of the cylindrical UFO. The other time was while we were in our hot tub while I was watching the Cassiopeia constellation. The video link is below.

A UFO Falls to the Ground in Yorkshire, England

By Charles Lear

In 1957, the same year the Soviets launched Sputnik, British authorities, media, and citizenry had their attention drawn back down to Earth as they attempted to unravel the mystery of a flying saucer said to have been found laying in a moor. It was dismantled, studied, and opinions were divided between its having come from space and its having been manufactured right here on Earth. Over time, the saucer went missing, but the mystery as to its origin remained. Then, in 2018, pieces of the saucer and its mysterious contents were found in the archives of the Science Museum in London.

The case was first reported in the December 9, 1957 Yorkshire Post in an article headlined “Mystery Object Found on Scarborough Moors” with the sub-headline “Has Unusual Hieroglyphics.” It was written about in detail in the March-April 1958 issue of Flying Saucer Review.

According to the Flying Saucer Review article headlined “The Silpho Moor Mystery,” a man “who writes under the pen name Antony Avendel” had examined an object discovered lying in Silpho Moor near Scarborough. The object is described as being shaped like a top, weighing 35 pounds, having a diameter of 18 inches, and having hieroglyphics on its outside. It was made of a double skin of 3/16” copper. A “burnt powdery substance” was found inside along with a copper book rolled up and inserted into a coil of copper tubing. The book was made of 17 copper sheets containing over 2000 words “engraved in phonetic-type symbols.”

UFOs Over Wytheville, Virginia

by Charles Lear

Danny Gordon

Beginning in October 1987, there was a UFO flap in Wytheville, Virginia. Thousands of people in the area reported seeing extraordinary things in the sky, but the most commonly told story that came out of the flap centers around a single witness who, it seems, was singled out for harassment by some unknown entity or organization.

On October 7, 1987, reporter Danny Gordon of radio station WYVE called the county sheriff, as he regularly did, to see if the sheriff had any news for him that day. The sheriff told Gordon that three deputies, all ex-military, had reported seeing a UFO that day. According to Gordon in the course of his appearance in a segment devoted to the Wytheville flap in Season 4, Episode 18 of Unsolved Mysteries, the story was used as what he calls a “ha-ha” piece at the end of that day’s newscast. A Country Singer, UFO Occupants, and Men in Black

By Charles Lear

One of the most famous early abduction cases is that of Travis Walton in late 1975, which received a lot of attention and still fascinates many people to this day. Walton’s case was investigated primarily by the Aerial Phenomena Research Organization. In the midst of that investigation, APRO was contacted by Johnny Sands, a country western singer who claimed he had encountered two humanoids in the desert outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is perhaps because of the attention given to the Walton case, that Sand’s case has all but been forgotten. I might also be because it’s seriously weird.

According to Sands, in his report to APRO and in subsequent interviews with researcher Timothy Green Beckley, he was in Vegas to promote a new record with some live shows. He had been visiting the towns surrounding Las Vegas to see how much his record was being played on local radio and how many jukeboxes it was in, and on January 29, 1976 (Sands didn’t recall the exact date with Beckley), he had been in Pahrump, Nevada.

The Kelly, Kentucky UFO Goblins

By Charles Lear (Halloween re-post)

On August 21, 1955, there was an incident that took place on a farm located in the town of Kelly, 7 miles north of Hopkinsville, Kentucky that reads like it was straight out of a ‘50s sci-fi comic book.  The story has been recounted in many books and all over the internet but, because of its comic book nature, that it involved real people who were deeply affected and real people who did earnest and laudable investigations tends to be overlooked.

In an old farmhouse on a tobacco farm along the east side of Old Madisonville Road, a two lane gravel turnpike, eleven people, eight adults and three children were relaxing as evening set in.  The house and farm were owned by Glennie Lankford, a 50 year-old widow with children from two marriages.  Full time residents of the house were: Glennie, her three children from her second husband ages 7-12, her 21 year-old son from her first marriage, J.C (John Charley) Sutton and his 27 year-old wife, Alene.  Glennie’s 25 year-old son, Elmer “Lucky” Sutton, his 29 year-old wife, Vera, and their friends, 21 year-old Billy Ray Taylor and his 18 year-old wife June, had been staying at the house for a couple of months.  Alene’s brother, O.P. Baker, also in the house that night was in his 30’s and stayed overnight on a regular basis as it was a convenient place for him to be picked up and driven to work.  The Taylor and Sutton couples were on a break from their work with a traveling carnival.
