A witness from USS Nimitz Primary Flight Control steps forward to share an account he says he kept even from his wife for years. Stationed aboard USS Nimitz from July 2001 to June 2006, Jimmy worked in Primary Flight Control directly under the Air Boss and Mini Boss. In his first live interview, he discusses his perspective on the 2004 Tic Tac incident, his account of men arriving to take recordings, and why he remained silent for so long. Jimmy says his commitment to following orders was so strong that he only told his wife about the incident a few months before recording his interview for Beaty’s documentary. David joins us to discuss his updated 2026 film, which revisits the encounter with additional witness testimony and new forensic recreations. We’ll explore the film’s claims concerning confiscated recordings, rewritten logs, and CIA operations, and ask what can be established through testimony and supporting evidence. BIO: Jimmy Hernandez III, 47, is a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard USS Nimitz from July 2001 to June 2006. He and his wife, Jennifer M. Rogers Hernandez, have been married for 11 years. His commitment to following orders led him to keep his account of the Tic Tac incident private, even from his wife, until a few months before his interview for The Nimitz Encounters. Jimmy comes from a family with a history of military service. His maternal grandfather served as a machine gunner aboard a tracked landing vehicle in the Pacific during World War II, and his paternal grandfather served in the Korean War. He enlisted in the Navy in March 2001 and reported aboard Nimitz that July, shortly after the ship emerged from dry dock at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. Following the September 11 attacks, the ship changed its homeport to Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California. During his 
time aboard Nimitz, Jimmy completed two Western Pacific deployments and worked in Primary Flight Control directly under the Air Boss and Mini Boss. In 2006, he transferred to shore duty at Naval Outlying Landing Field San Nicolas Island. In 2008, he volunteered for an Individual Augmentee assignment and trained with the Army at Fort Bliss, Texas, before deploying to Iraq with Naval Provisional Detainee Battalion Ramadi 2. He conducted detainee operations briefly at Camp Bucca and later at Camp Taji. Jimmy completed his active duty service honorably after eight years, eleven months, and nineteen days and held an active Secret security clearance until 2013.
BIO: David Beaty is an Emmy Award winning producer, cinematographer, researcher, and journalist with a career spanning three decades in journalism, film, computer graphics, and electronic music. His expertise includes UAV systems, digital cameras, lighting, editing, motion graphics, and 3D design, with national productions for Travel Channel, History Channel, and PBS. He earned Emmy Awards for cinematography on Waters Edge: The Bahamas and editing on Children of the Fourth World, along with an International Monitor Award for Uncommon Friends of the 20th Century. His credits include Freeze Frame, Wildlife Encounters in Alaska, Fireboats of 9/11, and The Nazi Plan to Bomb New York. He also coproduced the Emmy nominated Pope John Paul: A Saint for Our Times, the Emmy winning Under the Sea with Al Giddings, and the PBS biography Queen of Swing. His additional work includes segments for Inside Edition, America’s Most Wanted, CBS, FOX, MLB, Animal Planet, and HGTV.
