Martin Willis welcomes Christopher Sharp of Liberation Times, and formerly the Daily Mail, for a wide-ranging conversation on UFO/UAP journalism, disclosure, secrecy, and why this subject is finally being taken seriously by more mainstream reporters. Because of the UK–U.S. time difference, this interview was pre-recorded, but the discussion is timely and deeply relevant to where the topic stands today. Christopher talks about how his interest in the phenomenon evolved, from childhood curiosity to serious investigative reporting, and explains why the post-2017 landscape changed everything for journalists and the public alike. He and Martin also explore the psychology behind why some people remain completely uninterested in the subject, while others become intensely engaged once they begin looking at the evidence. The conversation also dives into some of the biggest current issues in the field: alleged drone incursions, secrecy surrounding retrieval programs, possible reverse-engineering efforts, the role of the U.S. military and intelligence community, and why so much of the disclosure story appears centered in the United States. Christopher shares his perspective on recent reporting involving Patuxent River, James Clapper, Neal McCasland, and the broader push toward government transparency. This is an in-depth and thought-provoking interview about where the UFO/UAP topic may be heading next, what real disclosure could look like, and why bipartisan interest in Washington may matter more than ever. Visit Liberation Times for Christopher Sharp’s reporting, and be sure to subscribe to Podcast UFO for more interviews and discussions on the mystery.

Bryce Zabel and Brent Friedman, creators of NBC’s Dark Skies, join Podcast UFO to discuss the strange real-life event that sparked their new investigative podcast, Sound, Light & Frequency. They share how their personal interest in UFOs began (including Bryce’s childhood discovery of the McMinnville “Trent Farm” photos, and Brent’s startling “aliens are real” disclosure from a Reagan-era family friend), plus Brent’s more recent UFO-style sighting during the Perseid meteor shower on Vancouver Island, tiny star-like lights moving erratically and seeming to drop into the ocean. The conversation turns to why witnesses stay silent, including stories Bryce heard from strangers after Dark Skies aired, schoolyard sightings with dozens of witnesses that never made the news, followed by families insisting: “don’t ever talk about it.” From there, Bryce and Brent explain the premise of Sound, Light & Frequency: an active investigation into whether Hollywood has been part of a long “chicken-and-egg” feedback loop with UFO culture, did filmmakers invent ideas that later entered ufology, or were real narratives quietly fed into film and TV? They preview their central claim: a mysterious “Man in Black”-type figure crashed their Dark Skies premiere party in the 1990s, claimed ties to the Office of Naval Intelligence, and allegedly offered a “deal” connected to a slow-drip disclosure program, truth inserted into fiction. They won’t fully reveal the details here (they insist listeners start with Episode 1), but they confirm follow-up meetings occurred and that the encounter never stopped haunting them. They also reveal how Dark Skies was sold with an elaborate “top secret” style series bible mapping a multi-season timeline, then the eerie twist: the exact “cover of fiction to tell truth” concept they pitched to networks later appeared to boomerang back on them in real life. The episode closes with their plan to examine iconic UFO films and series (Close Encounters, Contact, The Abyss, The X-Files, V, and more), vet tips from insiders, and look for patterns, without claiming they already have the answers.

This happened during our show!
Did Barack Obama slip — and then walk it back? In a recent interview with political commentator Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama was asked point-blank: Are aliens real? His response: “They’re real… but I haven’t seen them.” He followed with laughter, referencing conspiracy theories about extraterrestrials being hidden at Area 51, suggesting such a secret would be impossible to conceal — even from a president. Later, he clarified that he framed part of his answer humorously. But was that clarification damage control? Tonight, Martin and UFO Jack go deeper. We revisit Obama’s earlier appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he was pressed on the same topic — and we review the exceptional breakdown by investigator Ben Hansen, who analyzed Obama’s phrasing, timing, increased respiration, and body language frame by frame. Are we witnessing: Political humor? Strategic ambiguity? Or a carefully managed narrative? Two interviews. Two different contexts. One unanswered question. We’ll compare tone, wording, micro-expressions, and consistency — and let you decide whether this was just a joke… or something more.

BIO: Colonel Fredrick “Fred” Claussen was born in 1942 in Burwell, Nebraska, the only son of a baker and a telephone operator. His interest in space and UFOs began at a young age, and by eleven he had built a two-person “spaceship,” even attempting a launch—an early sign of a lifelong fascination with flight and aerospace. As a teenager, he set his sights on becoming a fighter pilot. After moving to Lincoln, Nebraska, Claussen graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School and attended the University of Nebraska, where he participated in Air Force ROTC and the marching band. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1963 and began his flying career as a B-52 navigator from 1965 to 1968. He later attended pilot training, graduating first in his class, before transitioning to the F-105. Between 1969 and 1970, Claussen flew 126 combat missions in Southeast Asia and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross twice. From 1970 to 1983, he served in multiple fighter assignments, flying the F-105, F-4, and F-15. In this episode of Podcast UFO, we are joined by Dr. Robert McGwier, widely known as “Science Bob,” for a deep, technical discussion on UAP and USO detection through automated sensor data gathering. Dr. McGwier brings decades of experience in applied mathematics, signal processing, and national-security–level data analysis. This conversation moves beyond speculation and focuses squarely on how real-world sensor systems—such as radar, sonar, electro-optical/infrared platforms, acoustic sensors, and passive detection arrays—are used to identify, correlate, and evaluate anomalous objects operating in air and undersea environments. We explore how modern sensor fusion works, what automated detection pipelines can (and cannot) reliably tell us, how false positives arise, and what standards must be applied before data can be considered credible. The discussion also addresses the challenges of classification, data access, and the limitations inherent in current monitoring systems. This episode is essential viewing for anyone interested in a serious, data-driven approach to UAP and USO research—where engineering, physics, and analytics take precedence over anecdote.
Since 1986, McGwier has served as a member of the technical staff at the Institute for Defense Analyses’ Center for Communications Research in Princeton, N.J., where he worked on advanced research topics in mathematics and communications supporting the federal government. He received his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Brown University in 1988.
An expert in radio frequency electronics and signal processing, much of McGwier’s research has looked at leveraging recent advances in software-defined and cognitive radio technology to support the communications needs of the federal government. His work on behalf of the federal government has earned him many awards, including the intelligence community’s highest honor in 2002.
